Get to Know Kisha and Daniel

One of Stemly Tutoring’s key strengths is our team of tutors who all boast of high academic achievements, extensive teaching experience, and unwavering love for all things STEM—just like Kisha and Daniel.

Stemly Tutor Kisha

Kisha

Ph.D. Candidate (Cellular & Molecular Biology), University of Pennsylvania; B.S. Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Kisha’s passion for the sciences has led her to participate in research involving drug/gene delivery, neurosurgery, cellular immunotherapies, cancer biology, and immunometabolism. She has taken this dedication a step further by working on getting her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology, specializing in Cancer Biology, at the University of Pennsylvania.

Just like Kisha is determined to contribute to developing breakthroughs in how we handle and treat cancer, she is just as passionate about making a difference in each of her students' academic journeys. With her impressive STEM background and six years of tutoring experience, Kisha has developed her own unique techniques and strategies to make learning more effective for all her students. This includes maintaining an individualized and dynamic teaching style that emphasizes the importance of communication and providing two-way feedback between her and her students. By doing so, Kisha says she’s able to understand the challenges that her students face with their STEM subjects.

Stemly Tutor Daniel

Daniel

Ph.D. Candidate (Inorganic Chemistry), UC-Davis; M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry, University of Minnesota-Duluth; B.A. Environmental Chemistry, Saint John’s University

Daniel’s exemplary Chemistry background, inspiring passion for STEM learning, and commitment to helping his students succeed are what make us at Stemly absolutely thrilled to have him on our team.

While working on his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, Daniel also dedicates his time to helping students with their college general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry classes, as well as honing their laboratory skills.

Daniel sees to it that his students understand the importance of consistency in their efforts, repetition, and reviewing their work in order to achieve their academic goals. He understands that many students struggle with STEM subjects in different ways, which is why he makes sure to tailor lessons and activities to address every student’s unique challenges. Some of Daniel's most effective tutoring techniques include using graphics or visual representations of ideas and big-picture examples to teach abstract concepts.
